Library and Information Science
The Swedish School of Library and Information Science is Sweden’s most extensive research environment in the subject and conducts research and education with a strong professional connection and international character. Our researchers take on the digital challenges of our time, mostly from the perspectives of the humanities and social sciences.

Business and IT
With a strong regional anchoring and based on national and international needs, the university conducts research with a focus on Business and IT in the subjects of business administration, informatics, and computer science. Our research is characterised by close collaboration with the business sector and a high proportion of externally funded projects.

The Human Perspective in Care
At the University of Borås, we conduct research that leads to solutions that change society for the better. Our research within the area the Human Perspective in Care focuses on the patient and the caregiver. We focus also on patients’ loved ones, students of Caring Science and their learning, and the leadership and organisation of healthcare.

Educational Work
One of the prerequisites for developing a social and sustainable society is high quality education, from pre-school and primary school to vocational training and higher education. Educational Work deals with issues of relevance to society in general and education in particular. This area covers pedagogical, general didactic, and subject-based teaching and learning issues. The purpose is to contribute knowledge that better allows us to understand the obstacles that may hinder us from taking advantage of the full potential of education, as well as knowledge in how such obstacles may be overcome and how to develop alternative possibilities.

Resource Recovery
Our planet faces major climate threats; many of them because we do not take care of the earth’s resources. The Swedish Centre for Resource Recovery (SCRR) is a multidisciplinary research environment that conducts world-leading research, education, and innovation. We improve and develop new methods and processes for material recycling and for refining waste and residual products into energy, materials, feed, and food.

Textiles and Fashion
The area focuses on the subjects of design, textile technology and engineering, and textile management. We conduct research on customised clothing production, circular fashion, the relationship between the body, materials, and movement, as well as dyeing textiles without water, as examples. The researchers at the Swedish School of Textiles address many exciting societal challenges.
